Game 1 State Tournament:
CT Capitals 4 vs. TCB South 3
With a 3-0 lead going into the 6th inning TCB South battled back to tie the game at and force it into extra innings. In the top of the 8th Capitals Joel Roman (East Hartford) Hit a double followed
by a walk issued to Alex Fulco (Rocky Hill) which set up the
heroics of Mike Cowperthwaite’s (Berlin) game winning single.
Cowperthwaite then came in to shut the door on the mound in the
bottom of the 8th. Game 2 State Tournament: TCB Blaze 8 vs. CT Capitals 6 Silenced
throughout the entire game the Capitals make a tremendous
comeback but then fell short falling 8-6 in game two of the
state tournament. Troy Deleon (East Hampton) finished the day
going 3-4 at the plate while Joel Roman (East Hartford)
collected 2 hits and Kevin Devivo (Berlin) scored 2 runs.
Brendan Germano (Berlin) took the loss on the hill for the
Capitals. Game 3 State Tournament: TCB North 13 v. CT Capitals 3 Trailing 3-0 the
Capitals fought back to tie the game in the top of the 2nd
inning. The Capitals had a difficult day in the field committing
numerous errors that ultimately decided the outcome of the game. Game 4 State Tournament: Chargers 8 v. CT Capitals 5 The CT Chargers
controlled the game from the first pitch with 7 runs in the
first 3 innings. Again the Caps struggled in the field with a
long 3rd inning. Zack Gonzalez (Glastonbury) and Zack
Cloutier (East Hampton) each had RBI doubles for the Capitals. Game 5 State Tournament: CT Capitals 11 v. CT Bombers 10 In the most
exciting game so far this season the capitals out slugged the
Bombers 11-10. In a game that went back and fourth from the
start Brendan Jordan (Manchester) had the game winning single in
the bottom of the 7th inning. Ryan Ouellette
(Farmington) got the win in relief for Brendan Germano (Berlin). Game 6 State Tournament: Blacksox 4 v. CT Capitals 1 In a 1-1 game
going into the 7th inning the CT Capitals gave
Newtown to many outs in the inning and it cost them the game
dropping it 4-1. Capitals finished the game with only 2 hits. Game 7 State Tournament: TCB North 7 v. CT Capitals 5 (shortened due to lightning) Championship
Round: In the rematch the capitals had the lead 2-0 until
the 2nd inning when TCB scored 7 unanswered runs
until the 4th when the Capitals cut the lead to 3
when Mike Cowperthwaite came though with a 2 RBI double. The
capitals tacked on another run in the 5th on a RBI
single by Zack Cloutier (East Hampton) to cut the lead to 7-5.
In the top of the 6th the capitals scored once again
on a single by Brendan Germano (Berlin) that scored Kevin Devivo
(Berlin) who got on base by a fielders choice. In the bottom of
the inning the game was called due to lighting which the game
was then reverted back to the 5th inning with the
Capitals losing the game 7-5. Game 8 State Tournament: CT Bombers 7 v. CT Capitals 1 Championship Round: Playing on a messy University of New Haven field due to rain the night before the capitals still had their struggles in the field committing 8 errors that led to 7 Bomber runs. Joel Roman (East Hartford) finished the game 2-2 with 2 walks. Brendan Germano (Berlin) scored the lone run in the 7th inning. Ryan Ouellette (Farmington) took the loss on the mound for the Capitals. game 1: won 9-3 vs. Wallingford big 5 run first inning...Kevin Devivo went 3-3(2 2b and 1b) also scored 3 runs. alot of lead off walks but turned big double plays and played solid defense. Brenden Jordan started for the Capitals and Troy Deloen came in releif to pitch 3 solid innings. game 2: won 10-2 vs. Wallingford Alex Fulco 3-4. Liam Christ pitched 5 innings of 1 run baseball
striking out 6 batters and giving up 5 hits. Got out of a jam in the
2nd with a 643 double play to get out of the inning with no runs.
