Typical Season

We are thinking baseball all the time!  Technically, there is never an off-season for us and our coaching staff. We are constantly instructing, planning and organizing our next practice, lesson, tournament or team.  Changing the attitude and baseball culture will forever be our number #1 goal.  Through our partnership with Baseball City the dreams of skills building all year long in this state of the art indoor training facility is fully attainable to finally compete with the nations best (California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey teams).

If selected to play for the CT Capitals select teams our typical season looks much like this.  Please see below.

A TYPICAL SEASON
The typical season for all CT Capitals Baseball teams includes four components:

  1. Tryouts (Must attend and be selected by coaches.)

    Fall/Winter Tryouts
The CT Capitals offer a pre-season tryout for all players in January, February and March (depending on age level of play).  The tryout will be an instructional clinic as well as a tryout. There will be a total of 8 hours of instruction in all facets of the game.  No returning players are automatically on a roster, they must tryout for all roster spots.  Cost for the clinic/tryout is $150.  If selected to join our team for the travel season our coaches will contact you the week after the final tryout date.

  2. Winter Program

    Winter Workouts/clinics

Capital Baseball winter program is conducted at Baseball City’s Indoor Training facility in Hartford, CT.
    1. The baseball program conducts program wide workouts during the winter, from January, February and March until the start of the season. Sessions will be announced and are conducted Friday evenings or Saturday, Sunday mornings or evenings at Baseball City. Winter workouts sessions are important to attend and designed to build on the fundamentals in order for us to hit the outdoor season in full stride.
    2. Some of the teams also conduct weeknight team workouts beginning in February and concluding in late March. The coaching staff uses these sessions to begin preparing the team for the transition outdoors.
    3. Homework - All our players are required to do "homework".  All our players must put in the time to be great and I can assure you this does not happen by mistake.  Our player development program is designed to teach the "correct" way to develop baseball skills.
    4. Baseball City membership is included in the cost of the CT Capital Baseball program. This entitles you to unlimited use of the facility once you have been chosen to a team all the way through the season.  Once the season is over, all Capital players will have a free All-Star membership until tryouts for the next season. The CT Capital All-Star membership  includes unlimited complimentary use of the short lesson area, member area, exercise area, discounts on cage rentals and the pro shop.

  3. Regular Season & Tournament Schedule

  1. Weekly Practice Schedule - A typical practice week during the regular season consists of one midweek, outdoor practice (East Catholic) and one midweek indoor practice (Baseball City)
  2. Regular Season - Regular season schedule consists of 25-30 games in the Greater New Haven Baseball League. Scrimmages will be played early in the regular season against other travel and AAU teams from MA, CT, RI, and NH as well as against high school JV and Freshman teams. These games will help prepare the team for tournament and state qualifying games. Scrimmages will also be played after the state tournament and regular season.
  3. Tournaments - Regional Tournaments will be played through the season.  These tournaments vary from year to year.
  4. National Tournament - A National Tournament will be played in various locations throughout the country.
  5. Practices & Open Play Schedule – Individual coaches/teams are encouraged to schedule more games and practices as they see appropriate in order to prepare for the AAU National Tournament. We encourage our coaches to seek out and play the very best programs so, our teams and players can get better.
  6. Total Games50+ games schedule ( Regular season, Regional Tournaments and National Tournament)
